Measure your ring size at home, before engraving

You can measure your ring size at home using a strip of paper or a ring you already wear. It's best to get it right when you order to save time, even though you have 90 days to change your mind, engraving included.

Whether the ring is for you, for a couple, or for a witness, here are the rules that apply, three ways to measure your finger size, and how the model affects the size you should order.

What if the size isn't right?

You have 90 days from delivery to return your ring, even if it's engraved, including for an unsuitable size. This is a commitment from our store: the law doesn't require it for personalized jewelry (article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code), but we prefer that you order with peace of mind.

The simplest way is to correct it before manufacturing. An order can be modified or canceled free of charge within 24 hours following its validation. After 24 hours, the jewelry is in production and can no longer be modified or canceled. If you have any doubts about the measurement, now is the time to correct it.

After this period, the following applies:

  • Returns within 90 days, engraving included, for an unsuitable size or a simple change of mind: you will be refunded for the ring.
  • Within 90 days, a free new production or a refund, without return, for a piece of jewelry that arrived damaged or broken, a manufacturing defect, an engraving that does not match your entry, a wrong item received, or a package declared lost by the carrier.
  • The 6-month quality guarantee covers manufacturing defects under normal wear, including tarnishing and discoloration. It excludes damage due to an accident, improper care, exposure to chemicals or perfume, as well as normal wear and tear.
  • An input error discovered after 24 hours: the jewelry is remade with the corrected personalization, at 50% of the original price, with standard shipping offered.

Details can be found in our return and refund policy.

Three ways to measure at home

On our product pages, the size is a number, from 6 to 13 depending on the model, and not a finger circumference in millimeters. The three methods below provide a finger circumference, which you then refer to in the size guide on the model's product page. Only the personal signature ring product page indicates the range in millimeters: size 7 corresponds to approximately 53 mm finger circumference, size 13 to 72 mm.

The paper strip method

This is the method indicated on our product pages: the guide is measured with a strip of paper in one minute. Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, without tightening. Mark the crossing point, unroll, and measure in millimeters. This length is your finger circumference.

The strip may slide or tighten differently from one try to another: repeat the measurement several times. Avoid using string or elastic, as they stretch.

A ring already worn on that finger

Place a ring worn on the relevant finger flat and measure its inside diameter, from one inner edge to the other, passing through the center. Multiply by 3.14: you will get the finger circumference. A diameter of 17 mm gives approximately 53 mm circumference, which corresponds to a size 7 according to the personal signature ring product page.

Read the graduations carefully: a small error in the diameter is enough to distort the size. And your two hands may not have the same circumference: use a ring worn on the finger that will receive the engraved ring, on the same hand.

The printable ring sizer

It works on one condition: the scale. A "fit to page" print reduces the document, enough to distort the reading. If you use a printable ring sizer found online, print it at 100% and check the calibration segment it contains with a ruler. If it does not contain one, or if the segment is not accurate, do not use this ring sizer.

Its numbering may not match our product sheets: do not use its sizes as is. Measure the diameter in millimeters, multiply it by 3.14, and refer the resulting circumference to the size guide on the product page.

Factors that can skew the measurement: time of day, cold, knuckle size

A finger's circumference isn't always the same from one moment to the next. It's best to measure at the end of the day, at room temperature, and avoid doing so right after exercise, a hot bath, or being out in cold weather. If you're unsure, remeasure on another evening.

Then there's the knuckle. A ring is worn at the base of the finger, and that's where the measurement should be taken. Also, check that the ring will pass over the knuckle: if yours is significantly wider than the base, measure it too and choose a size that will pass over it, without going up too much. A ring that's too large will spin on your finger.

Thin band, wide band, signet ring, plate ring: size according to the style

First, a quick check: some of our rings are open bands, available in one adjustable size. There's no size to choose for these. For the others, first verify that your measurement falls within the size range indicated on the product page, which varies from one style to another.

  • Customizable Engraved Ring : sizes 6 to 11, 2 or 3 mm band.
  • Personal Signature Ring : sizes 7 to 13, or 53 to 72 mm finger circumference, 6 or 8 mm band.
  • Initial Signet Ring : sizes 6 to 10, 14 mm plate.
  • Name Plate Ring : sizes 7 to 9 only, 4 mm band.

For the four fixed-size styles, the product page gives the same advice: if you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.

The Name Plate Ring has the shortest range: if your measurement falls outside sizes 7 to 9, this style will not be suitable.

Gifting a Ring Without Knowing the Size

This often happens when gifting an engraved ring to a witness or bridesmaid without asking them directly. Without a measurement, a fixed-size ring is tricky to gift: an incorrect size cannot be adjusted after manufacturing.

What works: borrowing a ring the person wears on the intended finger and measuring its inner diameter; asking someone close to them. What doesn't work: estimating by eye, comparing with your own finger, or relying on an “average size” that doesn't fit anyone. For a bracelet, see how to choose the size without measuring the wrist.

Two solutions remain. You can ask the person for their size, at the cost of the surprise effect: the ring will fit perfectly. Or, choose an open, adjustable one-size-fits-all band, which self-adjusts to the finger. This is the case for the twisted initial ring, the initial ring with a solitaire stone, or the 1 to 4 name ring. On the product page, look for the mention “one size adjustable”.

If a ring isn't the right choice, other gifts don't require a finger measurement: earrings, provided you know the sensitivity of their ears, or, for a man who doesn't wear jewelry, an engraved keychain.

In summary

  • An incorrectly chosen size can be remedied: you have 90 days to return the ring, engraving included. However, an accurate measurement will save you from waiting a second time.
  • An order can be modified free of charge within 24 hours; after that, the jewelry is in production.
  • A strip of paper (not too tight), or the inner diameter of a ring × 3.14: the resulting circumference should be referred to the size guide on the product page.
  • Printable ring sizer: print at 100%, check the calibration segment with a ruler.
  • Measure at the base of the finger; if the knuckle is significantly wider, choose a size that will pass over it.
  • If you're between two sizes, choose the larger one, within the model's range.
  • Gift without possible measurement: an open, adjustable one-size-fits-all band.

Before validating, also review the points to check for an engraved name : the size and text should be verified together. Do both before validating: the 24-hour window is there to catch any oversight.
